Neuro-psychiatric disorders are the third leading cause of global burden of disease, with an estimated impact of 16.3 Trillion USD. Despite the huge impact they have, and the increasing international focus on them due to the pandemic, the world has not seen revolutionary treatments in this space.
This is because clinicians lack tools that can't help in early screening, differential diagnosis and individualized modeling. If they had these tools, they could recruit patients for clinical trials for revolutionary new treatments and therapies, as well as personalize treatment for an individual.
BrainSightAI are here to change that.
AI reduces diagnostic complexity and aid psychiatrists to scale their diagnostics.
BrainSightAI founded by Laina Emmanuel and Rimjhim Agrawal creates AI-based diagnostic tools that can help in functional investigation of the brain. These tools can aid psychiatrists and neurologists in diagnosing mental disorders using MRI scans, and neurosurgeons in pre-surgical planning, especially for comatose and cognitively challenged patients. The AI-powered software empowers doctors with functional reports in a matter of hours.
The tool uses AI-based imaging markers to identify and classify disorders, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and early forms of dementia, and to simulate effects of surgery on brain functionality. BrainSightAI is pilot testing their prototype with two hospital chains, including the largest private hospital chain in India.
GOAL 3: GOOD HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
3DEXPERIENCE Lab open innovation laboratory and accelerator program is helping BrainSightAI, an Indian startup in neuroscience, in its efforts to revolutionize the diagnosis and prognosis of neuro-psychiatric disorders using artificial intelligence. The BrainSightAI MRI solutions for functional and structural investigation give an unprecedented view into the patient, enabling early screening, diagnosis and modeling. It combines AI and neuroscience to enable greater precision in neurological and psychiatric investigation for accelerated patient outcomes.
BrainSightAI is an AI enabled application suite developed by a diverse and expert team of scientists, researchers and designers. It provides evidence-based treatment hooks for psychiatrists and neurologists; and a private and empathetic digital aid for patients.
Studies estimate the annual number of deaths due to medical errors in the hundreds of thousands, so there is great incentive to revise the way the medical profession gains knowledge and experience. Advances in 3D printing technology and virtual simulation are creating new opportunities to improve the quality of treatments and patient safety.
Have you been in a situation where a generic treatment did not work very well for you or someone you know? Have you ever had that nagging feeling that maybe the doctor (as good as he or she may be) should really be treating YOU rather than a generalized representation of you?
One in 160 children has an autism spectrum disorder according to the United Nations. Children with autism have learning and developmental disorders, and represent a number higher than all others disabilities put together. In the US alone, over 6.4% children have special needs in terms of cognitive, motor and sensory processing skills.
Inaccurate medications kill five times more people than road accidents do in developed countries. In France alone, this costs 10 billion euros to the public health system.
The Living Heart Project aims to advance the development of safe and effective cardiovascular products and treatments by uniting engineering, scientific, and biomedical expertise to translate cutting-edge science into improved patient care. Through simulation and the creation of validated models, the project aims to provide personalized, interventional patient care.
Two 3D experiences, ultra realistic on a scientific point of view, were created through collaborative projects with technologic and scientific partners: "Staying Alive" and "Born To Be Alive".
"Staying Alive" is a serious game that allows to learn appropriate behaviors for first aid techniques.
For patients with chronic illnesses, a primary goal is to create the best possible quality of life for living with a disease. During diagnosis or clinical trials , recording data from patients is often done over a too short a period of time for a proper clinical conclusion.
