No two individuals have the same facial anatomy. But all conventional implants are mass-produced, trying to fit the patient to the implant instead of the implant to the patient. In traditional facial reconstructive procedures, the surgeon must either choose an off-the-shelf implant (such as titanium mesh) or harvest an autologous bone graft taken from the patient’s own body with a size and shape that the surgeon thinks will work best for the patient. These solutions lead to major problems, like increased risk, poor aesthetics and, most importantly, poor patient quality of life.
LUCID IMPLANTS is addressing these problems and assisting the surgeon by predicting and validating custom made medical devices for each specific patient. Our total solution seamlessly integrates
• virtual surgical planning for 3D pre-surgical simulation
• customized anatomical models for evidence-based mock surgical evaluation
• intraoperative patient-specific surgical guides for surgical precision
• personalized implants for perfect fitment
LUCID IMPLANTS’ custom solutions not only help maintain perfect aesthetics and quality of life, but also give complete control over the surgical procedure and value-chain, resulting in minimal tissue damage, reduced hospitalization time and lower cost-of-care.
GOAL 3: Good Health and well-being
LUCID IMPLANTS ensures healthy lives and promotes well-being for all at every age. Our value-based surgical solutions save and improve the quality of people's lives.
GOAL 8: Decent work and Economic Growth
LUCID IMPLANTS promotes inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and a higher quality of work for all. LUCID IMPLANTS strives to achieve higher levels of economic productivity through technological upgrading and innovation, including a focus on high value-added, development-oriented policies that support productive activities, creativity and innovation.
GOAL 10: Reduced Inequalities
LUCID IMPLANTS reduces inequality within and among countries by providing affordable, personalized solutions for people with facial deformation due to congenital defects, cancer or trauma.
The 3DEXPERIENCE® platform integrates with LUCID IMPLANTS’ complete surgical workflows from Idea to Incision. This includes
The process chain of a successful personalized surgical solution requires the involvement of multiple stakeholders, like a clinician, implant designer, simulation engineer, production engineer, quality manager, sales executive, and payor. Using the 3DEXPERIENCE® platform, all production, simulation, and operational tasks can be integrated into a singular workflow for seamless alignment from concept to patient fit.

Studies estimate the annual number of deaths due to medical errors in the hundreds of thousands, so there is great incentive to revise the way the medical profession gains knowledge and experience. Advances in 3D printing technology and virtual simulation are creating new opportunities to improve the quality of treatments and patient safety.
Have you been in a situation where a generic treatment did not work very well for you or someone you know? Have you ever had that nagging feeling that maybe the doctor (as good as he or she may be) should really be treating YOU rather than a generalized representation of you?
One in 160 children has an autism spectrum disorder according to the United Nations. Children with autism have learning and developmental disorders, and represent a number higher than all others disabilities put together. In the US alone, over 6.4% children have special needs in terms of cognitive, motor and sensory processing skills.
Inaccurate medications kill five times more people than road accidents do in developed countries. In France alone, this costs 10 billion euros to the public health system.
The Living Heart Project aims to advance the development of safe and effective cardiovascular products and treatments by uniting engineering, scientific, and biomedical expertise to translate cutting-edge science into improved patient care. Through simulation and the creation of validated models, the project aims to provide personalized, interventional patient care.
Two 3D experiences, ultra realistic on a scientific point of view, were created through collaborative projects with technologic and scientific partners: "Staying Alive" and "Born To Be Alive".
"Staying Alive" is a serious game that allows to learn appropriate behaviors for first aid techniques.
